How it works

What does Whales Sonar actually do?

We track a handful of carefully selected top traders ("whales") on Hyperliquid in real time. When a whale opens, resizes or closes a position, your bot mirrors the same move, scaled to your capital: if she puts 10% of her account on a position, the bot puts 10% of yours, at the same leverage. You always see exactly what the bot holds, its PnL, and every action it took.

What is "paper" mode? Do I need to deposit anything?

Paper mode is a full simulation — no real money, no deposit, no Hyperliquid account needed. You choose a virtual bankroll (say $10,000), press Start, and the bot mirrors the whale with simulated fills, including realistic trading fees and slippage. It's the honest way to evaluate the strategy before risking anything.

Is it safe? Can you steal my funds?

No — by design, not by promise. The service is non-custodial:

How do I create the API wallet for live mode?
  1. Go to app.hyperliquid.xyz/API (log in with your wallet).
  2. Click "Generate" to create an API wallet, give it a name (e.g. "whales-sonar").
  3. Authorize it, and copy the private key shown once.
  4. In Whales Sonar, paste your master account address (your main 0x… address) and that private key. We verify both with Hyperliquid before saving.

Reminder: this key can trade but can never move funds out of your account.

What are the stop-loss and take-profit?

Your two safety nets, checked every ~15 seconds against your account value (bankroll + PnL − fees):

Each can be enabled independently. They are "soft" stops: in a very fast market the exit can fill slightly past your level, like any stop order.

Who are the whales? Why can't I see their address?

Selecting whales is our core work: we scan every serious trader on Hyperliquid (38,000+ wallets), filter out wash-traders and lucky gamblers, and grade the rest on risk-adjusted performance — drawdown, consistency, track-record length. The identity of the tracked whales is the product's edge, so we publish their performance (returns, drawdown, current book) but not their address.

Why is my PnL different from the whale's?

Three honest reasons: (1) you started copying later than she started trading, so your entry prices differ; (2) mirroring has a few seconds of latency; (3) fees and slippage. Over time your relative performance tracks hers closely, but the absolute numbers will never be identical.

What does the beta cost?

Nothing. The beta is free and invitation-only. Billing (via Stripe) will arrive with live trading, with notice before anything is charged.
